Volunteer With Circle of Life Hospice

The Benefits of Volunteering

Giving to others is known to improve your mental and physical health. It can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.

Perhaps you have supported a family member or friend with end of life with the care and are inspired to give back. These sentiments often echo individuals called to hospice volunteering.

Benefits received by patients and families through the generous support of hospice volunteers is never forgotten; likewise, the rewards you receive as a hospice volunteer are beyond measure.

Circle of Life Hospice provides a comprehensive volunteer training program to those individuals interested in providing respite care to patients and families.

How You Can Help

You provide companionship to people living with a serious illness who are near the end of life. Also, volunteers support caregivers and family members by giving them a small respite from caring for their loved one. Some volunteers help with emotional and spiritual support and with life review — the process of recalling past events and memories in an effort to find meaning in and achieve resolution of one's life. Other responsibilities include reading; writing correspondences for the patient; light housekeeping; food preparation; and errands or grocery shopping.
