Michelle Cagle

CEO, Administrator

Michelle’s passion for hospice began the summer of 2005 when she cared for her mother who had terminal colon cancer. She brought her mother to live with her and her family in Susanville, California. During this time, she found how important it was for someone to have a “good death” and die with dignity, love and most importantly, comfort. Michelle describes her mother’s last few months as a beautiful and honoring experience. Prior to her mother’s passing, her mom conveyed to Michelle often that she should care for the dying and that it was her calling.

Michelle, an entrepreneur at heart, also has a long history in media, marketing, and advertising. In the early 90’s, Michelle was an Owner/Broker of an independent insurance agency in Southern California. After moving to Susanville in Northern California in 1996 and starting a family, Michelle founded a gun shop and sporting-goods store. Here, she was able to continue to dabble in sales with the local radio station while being able to be home with her children while they were young.

Shortly after moving to Reno in 2013, she was offered a position in the marketing department with Circle of Life Hospice. It was then that her passion collided with her talent and skills. She worked diligently and was passionate in both patient care and the health and growth of the company. The founders spotted her ability to manage and operate business and she was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2017. The following year, Michelle was promoted to Administrator and began the process of becoming the founders’ successor. In 2021, Michelle went from a minority shareholder to the CEO and majority shareholder.

Michelle continues to be passionate not only about the best level of quality care to the community, but to growing and building new programs to close all the gaps in end-of-life care. She is devoted to providing and adding transitional and palliative care to the company’s services, as well as adhere to the founders’ vision and philosophy of how hospice care should be delivered, over and above what regulations mandate. In addition to her many professional endeavors, Michelle also served as President of the Senior Service Network from 2014 to 2016, and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Circle of Life Hospice Foundation where she is collaborating with other community partners to fundraise and build Northern Nevada’s only “Hospice House” where less fortunate individuals would have a place to die with dignity and peace.

Michelle enjoys fishing, camping and birdwatching. She has a beautiful daughter and two adorable granddaughters who she treasures, and a son who passed away in 2017.
